It is really odd that most of nepalese (also "well-qualified") mix up these terms without any hesitation. Please commit it to your memory:

German = People of Germany or Language spoken in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein, Belgium, Luxembourg and Italy(only Trentino-S?dtirol Province) as official language (also Official language of EU).
Germany = Country in western Europe (polit.), in central Europe (geog.) = Federal republic of Germany.

  • the United States has the largest concentration of German speakers outside of Europe ? Here one lively example texas german.
  • During the 19th and 20th centuries, Germany was leading in the sciences ? particularly in physics, chemistry and sociology, winning many Nobel Prizes ? and the language was also used in international business and politics. Since 1933, the politics of Nazi Germany caused the emigration of many scientists like Albert Einstein, or artists like Marlene Dietrich, mainly to the US, thus American English took over in these fields after 1945.
