Student
Counselor at the GOETHE CENTER (TEL: 4250871), Thapathali can help you start your mission. You can ask them for Information Booklets. In order to apply you need attested copies of your certificates. It is better to get them attested from the German embassy and make more sets of your certificates (please note that every photo copied set should have all the documents that you intend to send, staple them together exactly the way you have arranged your ORIGINALS - doing that would make things faster and easier for both the parties!). German Embassy attests for you (so be complete with your papers, and please respect their rules and regulations).
You have passed +2, I.Sc. Or equivalent:
Since our educational qualification (12 years of schooling) is not enough to get you directly admitted in the German university, you have to attend one year foundation course here in Germany, called 'Studienkolleg'. They offer different courses depending on your future interest of study at the universities here. For example M-course for medicine, biology, pharmacy, etc. Since 2003 DSH, a German language proficiency test examination is a compulsory to get admission in the university. You will be prepared for DSH at the Studienkolleg. You have to keep in your mind that not all universities have Studienkolleg. Check whether the university that you have selected offer Studienkolleg.
For instance, you want to study biology at the university of Freiburg, since the Freiburg University does not offer the Studienkolleg, you will be sent to attend studienkolleg in Heidelberg University. This may sound confusing but it is not, your university will send you complete information along with your confirmation letter !
You have passed 1st year of Bachelor's degree:
For a complete application you have to pass DSH. However you don't need to attend Studienkolleg. Before you
enroll for a university you have to pass DSH exam, which mostly takes place occurs 2-3 weeks before the start of a Semester. If you think you still have to work on your German language, I personally suggest you to take part in Studienkolleg, because here you will be trained and taught many useful vocabularies required for your subject.
You have passed Bachelor's degree:
Only few of German universities offer Master's degree in English language. For those who want do their masters in German you have to pass DSH. For that you can directly apply to the University.
You have passed Master's degree:
You want to do research works. Germany is rich in research facilities. Directly contact the university or concerning Professor who will be supervising your work. As a researcher you enjoy various facilities! If you are looking for a research job, try
SCIENCE-JOB , In this site of
Heidelberg University you will find lot of vacancies from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
If you want to get an additional degree in different subject you may need German proficiency depending on university and subject. You can apply directly to the university.
